The latest version of Google Chrome is rolling out widely today with a dedicated back button and other small interface tweaks.
Previously, the three-dot menu only offered a forward button on the top row. Android browser version 150 adds a back button as an alternative to using the system back gesture or navigation button.
It’s been available on Chrome for iOS for some time now. On the desktop browser, you can remove the Forward button by going to Personalize Chrome from the New Tab > Toolbar > Navigation page.
Old versus new
As part of this change, the information button has been removed and a new “Site Controls” item has been added to the ever-growing additional list. Show reading mode It was the last addition in February.
As such, the Bookmark star and Download button move to the right in an unfortunate break from muscle memory.
This change will be implemented with version 150, which became widely available. via Play Store today.
Another small change in this version is that “Add to Home Screen” becomes “Install and Create Shortcut” further down the menu.
