When it comes to action cameras, GoPro has long occupied a prominent place in the industry. Competitor insta360 has a firm position in the market, and the company’s upcoming X6 camera could chip away at GoPro’s lead.
The newly leaked images of the Insta360 X6 appeared today, thanks to camera leaker Mauro Tandoi, just a few days later. a presentation for the new camera was seen online. As reported by winfutureThe leaked images show a much more compact body than the X5, with a much more traditional action camera silhouette. All told, the X6 looks more like a GoPro than any of Insta360’s previous offerings. This is still the classic Insta360, though, with dual camera sensors placed behind a fisheye lens on the front and back sides, along with a status screen for quick settings.
The Insta360 X6 could launch soon with a smaller design, improved 8K 360° capture, and a higher price. https://t.co/yVRRs3qlbb #Insta360X6 #action camera #TechLeaks pic.twitter.com/cs5WIPEATZ

The leaked specs show some pretty impressive tech inside the X6, with 8K resolution up to 50 frames per second in 360 mode. The X5, by comparison, was capped at just 30 frames per second.
But of course, because we are in 2026 and everything is more expensive nowThe Insta360 X6 will reportedly see a price increase over its predecessor. According to WinFuture, retailers report that the X6 itself will start at around $800, while an “essentials bundle” with as-yet-unknown accessories will add around $100 to the bill. The price increase makes sense, given the cost of camera components in general, and in many cases a product simply becomes more expensive when it becomes more compact.
There’s no planned release date for the X6 yet, but it could launch at just the right time: GoPro is in a tough spot right now, with the camera company filing for bankruptcy. earlier this week. GoPro CEO Nicholas Woodman reportedly bought a whopping $20 million worth of shares in the company to keep it afloat for the time being. Woodman said he would be open to a sale or merger, if the right buyer comes along.
At $800, the X6 won’t exactly be affordable for the average consumer, but purchasing one could be much more attractive to potential action camera buyers if GoPro is no longer available.
