The Galaxy Z Fold 8 series will get a new foldable screen architecture, Samsung admits, which will improve the phone’s resistance to developing an unsightly crease on the interior screen.
A Samsung ad details something the company calls its “Flex Titanium” display panel. It will be used in Samsung’s “next-generation Galaxy foldable devices,” which refers to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
The Flex Titanium is supposed to offer a better viewing experience, according to Samsung. This comes with increased durability and “reduced visibility of wrinkles.” It uses a titanium alloy film under the OLED panel. This makes it less flexible than plastic with a significantly thinner profile. Samsung claims it measures less than 30% the thickness of a human hair.
That film is paired with a titanium plate that acts as a support for the screen. With fewer air spaces in this structure, there is more support when the device is unfolded and folded again.
