As expected, Samsung is switching its new Galaxy Watch 9 to a Qualcomm chip, the Snapdragon Wear Elite, as confirmed by some new images.
Qualcomm announced Snapdragon Wear Elite as its latest smartwatch chipset at the beginning of this year, with the 3nm chip promising faster overall performance and a ton of extra power for AI tasks. It was also teased that Samsung would adopt the chip.
That’s great news, as the Galaxy Watch series has exclusively used Exynos chipsets over the years, which was actually beneficial for them during the several years that Qualcomm chips were around. disappointingwe will say. The only question left was whether Samsung would abandon Exynos entirely.
It seems that the answer is yes.
Evan Blass came out of retirement again through his “Leakmail” fact sheetwith a batch of images including one that explicitly shows the Galaxy Watch 9, not the Ultra 2, as “Powered by Snapdragon Wear Elite.”
Again, not a surprise, but nice to see.
As for what Samsung could do with the extra power, we’ll have to wait and see…
