It’s anything but broad at this point, but we’re finally seeing signs that Android Auto is rolling out support for a live speedometer.
Google Maps took years to implement support for speed limitsbut it has taken even longer to bring a live speedometer to show your current speed in Android Auto. And the reason is not very clear, since Google introduced support for this in July 2024 for Apple CarPlayand it has also been available on Android phones for a long time.
However, it finally seems like we are making progress.
At least a couple of Android Auto users in reddit report watching the speedometer appear on your dashboard. This user is located in Canada and was using version 26.29.02.946673643 of the app, available in the beta program.
We are not yet seeing this on our end, and there are no other reports circulating either. So, at least for the moment, we cannot say that it is widely available. but after years waiting, it’s great to see this finally happening. However, as with any Android Auto feature, it could take a long time to roll out to everyone.
