LeBron James will play for the Miami Heat in the 2026/2027 season, at least if a private video on the Miami Heat’s YouTube channel is to be believed. The NBA team’s official YouTube channel posted a video titled “LeBron James Introductory Press Conference” that specifically mentions July 27, 2026.
The YouTube video, which is marked private, was quickly removed from the list and Google search results. but bing still show the video (although you can’t actually see it).
With an NBA player of James’ fame, people probably would have seen the video if it appeared on Google for just a few seconds. But Bing made it much easier to watch the video..
The basketball world is anxiously awaiting James to make a decision on where he will play next season. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver even said the league’s schedule can’t be finalized until James announces his plans.
So should Silver finish the NBA schedule and submit it now that the Miami Heat YouTube channel posted a video? Probably not. While there is always the possibility of James returning to Miami, the Heat organization claimed that the video was made public in error by the team’s social media department.
A Heat spokesperson further clarified Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald that the team prepared the video due to the possibility of James returning to Miami.
I will note that Miami did not deny that James will sign with the Heat or claim that the video is incorrect. The spokesperson said that “the video is currently invalid” (as Chiang said he was told).
That said, it is normal for organizations to prepare for different scenarios. A more grim example is that the media often have pre-written obituaries for key figures.
We’ll have to wait to see if James decides to return to Miami or play elsewhere next season. Meanwhile, we can see if the betting lines on his future signing change based on the video shared in error.
