A19 Pro Chip
The current MacBook Neo is powered by the A18 Pro chip, which is the same chip used in the iPhone 16 Pro. As reported by BloombergApple is working on a next-generation MacBook Neo with the A19 Pro chip.
In terms of performance, the A19 Pro is 10-15% faster than the A18 Pro in single-core and multi-core CPU tests. The jump in GPU performance is even bigger, with benchmarks showing an increase of up to 40% for the A19 Pro. This is because each GPU core in the A19 Pro has neural accelerators built in.
The A19 Pro chip is also used in the flagship iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air models.
According Reporter Tim Culpan.Apple will likely use a “scrapped” version of the A19 Pro chip in the MacBook Neo. While the A19 Pro chip in the iPhone 17 Pro has a 6-core GPU, the MacBook Neo version of the chip will likely have a 5-core GPU.
More memory
One of the compromises of the MacBook Neo is that it has 8 GB of RAM. The rest of Apple’s Mac line today starts with 16GB of RAM.
The next-generation MacBook Neo won’t come up to 16GB of RAM. Instead, it is expected to offer 12GB of RAM thanks to the aforementioned A19 Pro.
like me wrote in my reviewI don’t think it’s a big limitation that the MacBook Neo only has 8 GB of RAM. Still, an increase for the next-generation model is a big improvement.
New AI features
The combination of the A19 Pro chip and 12GB of RAM should also unlock support for Apple. powerful on-device AI model announced at WWDC. This model allows for a more precise dictation experience and new options to customize Siri’s voice.
The current MacBook Neo does not support this feature due to its A18 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM.
New colors
The MacBook Neo is available in a variety of fun colors, including citrus, blush, indigo, and silver. Bloomberg information that Apple’s plan is to “periodically” update the MacBook Neo with new colors.
There are no details on what colors the next-generation MacBook Neo will be available in.
