Now that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is official, we can start speculating about the Galaxy Z Flip 9. In most years, we’d already have a leak or two about the specs or design of the next model, but the Z Flip 9 rumors point in a completely different direction: the end of the Z Flip line.
in front of the Galaxy Z Flip 8The announcement of a rumor claimed This would be the last of Samsung’s eighth-generation Flip phones. This comes from leaker Ice Universe, known for its accurate information on upcoming devices, but as with any leaked information, it could simply be from a meeting where Samsung floated the idea of ending the Z Flip line rather than a legitimate decision to end it.
While the leak didn’t provide much information beyond “The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is likely to be Samsung’s last small foldable product,” it’s very likely that a combination of dwindling sales and market conditions is causing Samsung to rethink every product it makes.
With the arrival of the new, smaller Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the upcoming flood of similar “fun-sized” book-style foldables, Samsung and other players may be shifting focus away from Flip-style phones. Regardless of what happens, we’ll be collecting all the rumors and leaks that appear between now and the expected launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 9.
Galaxy Z Flip 9: price and availability
Samsung’s next foldable phone announcement, which will likely include the Galaxy Z Flip 9, should take place in July 2027. Samsung has been using a mid-to-late summer date for its foldable phone and wearable device announcements, and we expect that to continue next year.
As electronics prices continue to rise, we also expect another price increase for the Galaxy Z Flip 9, especially if RAM and storage prices continue to rise. as predicted due to the rise of AI data centers. One of the biggest selling points of the Z Flip has always been the lower price compared to the Z Fold, and another price increase could spell trouble for the Z Flip line.
What we expect from the Galaxy Z Flip 9
It’s been a while since we’ve seen a substantial redesign of the Z Flip series. The Z Flip 8 further slimmed down the series, but since it’s not as thin as the Z Fold 8, a Z Flip 9 will likely continue to slim down the series. Samsung has started using silicon-carbon in its batteries (5% silicon content on the Z Flip 8), which means it can continue to increase battery capacity and decrease the physical size of the battery, allowing for thinner and lighter phones.
Since the cover screen already takes up the entire front of the phone on the Z Flip 8, it’s unlikely we’ll see changes to its physical appearance on a Flip 9. Samsung’s new titanium screen protection substantially reduced the internal crease on the Z Fold 8 series, and a Flip 9 would also do well with an even smaller crease.
Galaxy S26 Ultra Privacy Screen Rumored to Start Coming to other Samsung phones in 2027and that could include the company’s premium-level foldable devices, like a Galaxy Z Flip 9. Even if this phone doesn’t have that technology, it should address PWM rateas Samsung has fallen far behind its rivals in eye care features like this.
I’d also love to see Samsung add a telephoto camera to the Z Flip 9. Basically all flip-style phones include a main and ultra-wide camera, but few have tried to offer any sort of “pro-level zoom” like a non-foldable flagship in this price range would.
It’ll be a while before we can start to feel confident in Samsung’s direction for the next Z Flip phone, but you better believe we’ll have everything you need to know here as rumors and leaks arrive over the next year.
