Release date, cover stars, editions

EA will launch EA Sports FC 27 worldwide on September 25, 2026 and will use Real Madrid teammates Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham as cover stars. EA today announced the game’s cover art, first gameplay skin, and edit roster, confirming a release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, Switch 1, and Switch 2.

Mbappé was named the cover star of the Standard and Ultimate editions earlier in the week. The new reveal adds Bellingham alongside him in a limited-time Ultimate Plus edition, his third appearance on an EA Sports FC cover, according to EA.

If you skipped the cover reveal for this year’s game, the tbreak recap of Mbappé getting the cover of FC 27 covers that ad above.

The main change this year is a new mode called The Grounds, which EA describes as a “social football playground” that expands the Club experience from casual matches to competitive play across three districts, with in-game mentors including Mbappé, Chloe Kelly, Paulo Dybala and Alex Hunter. There’s one major problem: EA says The Grounds and Clubs only runs on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch 2. If you’re still on PS4, Xbox One, or the original Switch, you won’t get this mode at all.

EA also promises a rebuilt professional transfer market “enhanced by TransferRoom”, where player values respond to club earning power, potential, qualifications and form, plus an all-new FUT gallery to select player item sets to raise gallery level and earn rewards. Across all modes, the company is highlighting community-driven gameplay changes such as dynamic corners, increased attack awareness, and rebalanced AI defense. These are all EA descriptions for now; none have been verified in independent play tests.

It’s worth reading the monetization structure carefully before pre-ordering. EA says the Ultimate Plus Edition is available only until August 31 and includes up to 10,000 FC Points spread across five monthly drops, premium passes for Seasons 1 to 5, a selection of FUT Hall players, and cross-title content that applies to EA SPORTS FC 26, which is sold separately. That point total comes with conditions: EA states that you must complete the initial redemption steps by June 1, 2027, and that redeeming after September 26, 2027 forfeits the points entirely.

Early access is staggered as usual. Ultimate and Ultimate Plus buyers get up to seven days of early access starting September 18, while EA Game Members get a 10-hour trial starting on the same date, and EA Play Pro members get day one access to a Pro Edition with Ultimate Edition content. EA’s rules and help pages are also clear that FC Points should only be purchased through official channels, and that coin sales and external distribution may incur penalties, a policy in place that predates this game.

EA hasn’t released regional pricing for the UAE or Saudi Arabia markets in this announcement, so hold off on any guesses about local cost until the store pages are live. On the authenticity front, EA cites more than 21,000 players, more than 800 clubs and national teams, more than 130 stadiums and more than 35 leagues, spanning the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, LALIGA EA SPORTS and various women’s competitions.

Pre-orders are now open. The most useful question for most players is whether The Grounds and the rebuilt Carrera market justify another full-price release, and that’s something no cover reveal can answer – wait for hands-on impressions before committing to the Ultimate Plus Edition and its expiring FC Points.
