As Tecno continues to evolve its “Practical AI“, the company is introducing its latest evolution with OpenClaw. The new EllaClaw AI agent is powered by OpenClaw, bringing the open source AI agent platform to smartphones for the first time and aiming to bring more advanced AI features to emerging markets.
OpenClaw is one of the latest AI platforms in Get huge interest from companies like Nvidia.. Unlike many typical AI chatbots, OpenClaw focuses on automation; complete tasks on behalf of the user and with minimal user involvement. It’s also open source, so companies can take advantage of it and develop it, which is what Tecno is doing with its smartphones.
EllaClaw takes Tecno’s Ella AI assistant and injects it with the OpenClaw framework. This allows the new EllaClaw to integrate with Tecno phones at a system level, with capabilities tailored to the smartphone and its user. As a result, EllaClaw will be able to handle some different use cases that we have already seen on other smartphones. For example, EllaClaw will be able to handle multi-step actions from a single sentence, using natural language.

But even more than that, EllaClaw will be able to handle the integration of multiple applications, so a task can be transferred from one application to another while the AI agent performs it. This means managing data in your text messages, calendar, notes, or weather apps, where you could, for example, have EllaClaw create an easily digestible schedule by adding all the available information.
A popular use of AI is summarize and prioritize notifications of messaging applications, something we have seen with the latest Galaxy S26 series. EllaClaw can also accomplish this while also going a step further by highlighting important messages and those you can probably delete.
Finally, similar to functions like magic sign and now push the Pixel 10 and Galaxy S26respectively, Tecno is making Ella a much more proactive assistant with OpenClaw. EllaClaw will learn about a user’s habits over time and display relevant information when necessary, reducing friction for consumers.
Regarding user data, Tecno guarantees that EllaClaw has built-in privacy safeguards, with user data isolated and inaccessible to third parties or unauthorized users, which should reassure Tecno owners.
Tecno tells us that users will be able to try EllaClaw beta “in the coming months” and more details about the beta and registration will be coming soon.
Android Central’s opinion
After trying the latest from Tecno Truck 50 Ultrawhich is packed with AI features, it’s fascinating to see how quickly the company is moving as it tries to bring more advanced features to more markets, possibly at lower prices than the competition. EllaClaw looks a lot like what we get from two of the biggest players in the smartphone business, Google and Samsung, with similar features to boot. However, it will be interesting to see how the user interface evolves across the operating system.
On the one hand, using OpenClaw is smart, allowing Tecno to easily create and adapt AI automation for its smartphones with an open source tool. That being said, OpenClaw has received both scrutiny and praiseand although Tecno guarantees the protection of user data, we will closely follow this development.
