Android 17 Beta 3 starts adding more blur to the system UI (Gallery)

Android 16 introduced translucency to the notification shade and Quick Settings last year. As rumored, Android 17 Beta 3 continues that blurry trend.

The widget launcher background changes from a solid color to a blurred color. You can distinguish the home screen and app icons. This effect applies to the sheet per application and to the entire list.

There is also a blur effect when you launch applications. This can be difficult to notice or appreciate as the app launch transition from icon to full screen is quite quick. Pay attention to how your wallpaper is now blurred as the app takes up the entire screen. In previous versions, the background does not change.

Previous Android 17 leaks It showed blur on the power menu, volume rocker and entire sheet. This is not yet available in beta versions. Google will presumably finalize this visual update with the stable release in June.

When it was introduced last year, Google said the blur effect provides a “sense of depth, so motion feels light and you can stay aware of the apps you’re using in the background.”
