Bluesky has a new app and it’s all about AI



Earlier this month, Jay Graber, then CEO of Bluesky, resigned and took over as CEO. innovation director of the social media platform. As disingenuous as it may sound, chief innovation officer is a real job title, especially in the tech world, and as such, the Graber team has already announced a new real app, although it hasn’t been publicly released yet.

According to TechCrunchThe app is called Attie and it is artificial intelligence software designed to allow users to personalize their social media experiences with the help of Claude from Anthropic.

Bluesky’s new CEO Toni Schneider told TechCrunch: “We’ve launched a lot of things within Bluesky: starter packs and custom feeds, and all that kind of stuff. This is a standalone product and it’s the first one created by Jay’s new team.”

He also told TechCrunch: “It’s an AI product, but it’s an AI product that’s very human-centric.”

This might irritate some Bluesky users, as Bluesky is famous for being a place for posts expressing something positive about AI. they tend to be unpopular. The success of the application, if you can call it thatcomes from users mostly I just want a Twitter clone without Elon Musk attached during the Great Twitter Evacuation of 2023.

But Bluesky was originally conceived as a radically customizable and flexible platform, adapting to the environment of your Cryptocurrency-loving founder Jack Dorseywho was also the original co-founder of Twitter. Graber, whose career in technology started at blockchain logistics company SkuChainhas never doubted that customization is Bluesky’s north star.

TechCrunch’s report on this new app comes from Bluesky’s Atmosphere 2026 conference, the conference for developers and enthusiasts working with Bluesky’s open protocol known as atpro. Hence the name “Attie”.

With Attie, users seemingly enter what are essentially chatbot messages. The app will process everything the user types, find posts they might be interested in on Bluesky and other pro-friendly networks, and use them to personalize their feed and overall experience. Atmosphere attendees reportedly became guinea pigs and began beta testing of Attie, which is apparently not yet complete. Ultimately, according to TechCrunch, the idea is that you can “code your own app using vibration.”
