This spin-off of the Android operating system refuses to comply with the same age verification laws that come to Windows: “If devices cannot be sold in a region due to its regulations, so be it.”


In 2027, California Digital Age Guarantee Act will require all operating system vendors in the state, including Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and linux distributions like Steam OSto collect information about the age of users during setup.

However, GrapheneOS, a privacy-focused Android-based operating system, indicated that it will not be part of emerging laws requiring mandatory age verification during setup (via Tom Hardware).
