Samsung is rolling out a free update for its smart TVs that finally brings support for Google Cast.
Although Samsung makes some of the best smart tvs in the market, one limitation has been the use of the company’s own Tizen operating system. While you still have access to most of the core applications, running Tizen OS (or A Tizen UI on newer Samsung TVs) means you miss out on one of Google TV’s most useful features: Google Cast.
Fortunately, that’s changing now, as Samsung has started rolling out updates to its older 2023 and 2024 smart TVs that bring support for Google Cast. The feature has already been confirmed for 2026 models, but is now coming to older TVs as well.

Android Central’s opinion
It seems like this should have been done a long time ago. Not having Google Cast on Samsung TVs never made sense, especially when cheaper Android TVs had it for years. It’s good to see Samsung finally fixing one of the biggest gaps in its ecosystem.
TO Reddit user reported that your S90D OLED TV showed a new ‘Continuity’ screen indicating Google Cast support (via SamMobile). Samsung hasn’t officially announced the launch yet, so it appears to be happening quietly. It is also unclear which models are supported so far.

Once the update hits your Samsung TV, you’ll be able to stream content directly from your phone, tablet, or even your Android laptop’s Chrome browser without needing a separate device like a Chromecast or Google TV Streamer. You will be able to stream applications like YouTube, Google Photosand more directly to your TV when they are on the same Wi-Fi network.
We haven’t seen the update arrive on our Samsung TV yet, but it may take a few weeks, depending on your region or specific TV model, to roll out to your device.
