The best part about netflix is that I can fit a good TV series into my weekend and watch it at my own pace. Whether that means watching eight tight episodes of an addictive thriller in a single night or savoring them over a couple of days, I love how all the episodes are there to watch however you want.
With that in mind, I picked three Netflix shows for the weekend that you can pick up either way, and a couple of them are new to the streamer. One is a goosebump-inducing wedding horror, another is a disturbing Scandinavian detective thriller, and the third is a Korean sci-fi that will literally get under your skin.

something very bad is going to happen
It’s Twin Peaks meets Get Out in this new Netflix horror series
I know the weather is getting warmer, but watching the first episode of Haley Z. Boston’s disturbing new horror series, something very bad is going to happenIt gave me chills that I couldn’t help, in a good way. With the help of executive producers, the Duffer Brothers (stranger things), Boston has created a fun eight-part relaxing journey that mixes twin peaks weirdness with the familiar fear behind Jordan Peele Go out.
Rachel (Camila Morrone) and her fiancé Nicky (Adam DiMarco) are on a road trip to Nicky’s family cabin in the middle of nowhere for their wedding. But something dark and supernatural has been haunting Rachel, as the couple gets sidetracked by some oddities: dead foxes everywhere, an abandoned baby in a locked car, and a creepy old man in a bar who asks her, “Are you sure he’s the one?” When they reach the cold, labyrinthine cabin that just screams the glowRachel’s unease intensifies when she meets Nicky’s eccentric family.
The best part? Iconic actress Jennifer Jason Leigh plays Nicky’s mother, who has a dark family secret that Rachel will soon discover.

Detective Joe Nesbo’s Hole
A disturbing Nordic detective thriller
Leaving aside the laugh-inducing name of the main character of this Norwegian-language detective thriller, Harry Hole (pronounced Hoo-y), The Detective Hole by Jo Nesbø It’s anything but fun. Adapted from Nesbø’s acclaimed crime novel, The devil’s starThe nine-part series is a reminder of how good the Scandinavians are at creating dark and exciting crime dramas (The Murder, Bordertown, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).
Tobias Santelmann plays the titular anti-hero detective, a man struggling with alcoholism and trying to overcome a terrible accident that caused the death of his partner. But Harry has more important matters to resolve: there’s a ritualistic serial killer on the loose, and Harry is getting closer. talking about The murderhowever, that show’s excellent Joel Kinnaman (For all humanity) co-stars as Harry’s nemesis, corrupt colleague Tom Waaler, who is not at all likable.
Detective hole It’s everything we love about Nordic noir spectacles: it’s dark, twisty, and its locations in Oslo and Norway add to the eerie sparseness when necessary. So far, the series has a 92% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and can be enjoyed in one weekend.

Parasyte: The Gray
Fill your Demogorgon deficit with this South Korean sci-fi

Directed by Train to Busan from director Yeon Sang-ho, this 100% new six-episode series takes place in the same universe as the manga, but changes location to South Korea.

Instead, Su-in somehow bonds with the parasite, nicknamed Heidi, and they instead coexist while giving Su-in some deadly abilities. Which is a good thing, because there’s a whole cell of other zombified “parasites” hell-bent on taking over humanity. Su-i and Heidi confront them, with the help of Team Grey, a government-led force that hunts the parasites, but they are also hunting Su-in.
