Google releases Pixel Buds A-Series update

Google Friday night announced a new firmware update for the original Pixel Buds A-Series.

Firmware version 3.581.0 will roll out to the original Pixel Buds A-Series starting in 2021. This update contains “bug fixes, performance and security improvements.” No further details are available today.

Open the Pixel Buds companion app > More settings > Firmware update to start the download on Android. You can also go to mypixelbuds.google.com on desktop browsers.

  • Automatic updates: If you have automatic updates turned on, your Pixel Buds A-Series will update automatically when connected to a Pixel phone running Android 10+ or an Android 6.0+ device with the Pixel Buds app installed. This download takes about 10 minutes and you can still use your headphones during this time. Once downloaded, the update will be installed when you place the earbuds in the charging case with enough battery. If no update is mentioned, your firmware is up to date.
  • Manual updates– When automatic updates are turned off, a notification will appear on your device when an update is available, but it will not be downloaded or installed on your Pixel Buds. You can manually start the download on your phone once it is available. This takes about 15 minutes.

This follows a similar update for the Pixel Buds Pro 2022 in december.
