If you played on Xbox in the mid-2000s, I’m sure you remember the prevalence of voice chat messages that were frequently exchanged between gamers in the Xbox 360. That console introduced the ability to record a short audio clip and then send it to another player of your choice, whether it’s someone on your friends list or someone you ran into in an online multiplayer match.
Today’s younger gamers probably don’t think much about those voicemail messages, but those of us who lived through that era remember how novel and fun they were to interact with. I have many nostalgic memories of sending other players everything from polite “GGs” to spiteful, rage-filled rants in my teens, and I’m sure many of you do too.

The site’s interface is as close to the Xbox 360 chat UI as possible, featuring your classic navigation sound effects, options to change your gamertag and gamer picture to one of those aforementioned iconic images, and even some animated backgrounds. Halo 3, Obligations: Modern Warfare 2, and minecraft lobby to choose from.
By far the site’s best feature, however, is the ability to record a 30-second audio clip and then send it to someone with a link, complete with a filter for your microphone with sliders for distortion, compression, bit crushing, and background noise. Basically, you can make your microphone sound as terrible as the one you used on the Xbox 360 20 years ago, and that standards.
Anyone you message can select the “Reply” button and respond to their own voice chat, just like they did in the days of yore.
This is a wonderful little fan site and a blast from the past for anyone who remembers sending voicemails back and forth in the Xbox 360 era. Kudos to community member Mike Wing for doing it; Am absolutely I’m going to send some silly voicemails to my friends this weekend.

This Xbox 360 messaging site is an amazing fan creation and really took me back to my early gaming years as a teenager when I played with it before writing this article. I know most younger players won’t understand it, but if you’re like me and grew up in this era, you’ll definitely understand.
