NASA astronauts on their way to the Moon capture Earth using the iPhone 17 Pro Max


Apple’s next Shot on iPhone ad campaign is writing itself: the four NASA astronauts currently on the Artemis || The mission is taking stunning photographs of Earth, using iPhone 17 Pro Max.

As confirmed by NASA Flickr official pagethree of the published photographs were taken with an iPhone. The images show Earth through the capsule window of the Orion spacecraft.

As reported beforeApple was not formally involved in the approval process for bringing iPhones to the spacecraft. Each astronaut was equipped with a silver iPhone 17 Pro Max in their suits, and the crew also has GoPro hero 11 and Nikon D5 cameras available to use.

Although many of the famous photographs already published from this mission were taken with the Nikon D5, NASA Confirmed Flickr account the new batch was taken from the iPhone:

The image above is one such iPhone capture, showing astronaut Christina Koch as she looks out the main window of Orion’s cabin, showing the illuminated Earth.

You can follow the live progress of the Artemis mission on NASA website. Later today, the spacecraft will orbit the far side of the Moon, setting a record for the longest distance a human has ever traveled in space.
