Pebblebee’s newest Find Hub Android tracker does much more than find your wallet, with Halo able to function as a surprisingly bright flashlight, but more importantly, a security alarm.
Pebblebee is best known for its tracking devices, competitors to AirTag. It was one of the first brands to adopt Google’s Find Hub network for Android and offers some of the best options you can buy today.
The new Pebblebee Halo launches the new “Safe Haven” effort, which focuses on improving personal safety. As such, the Halo is, according to Pebblebee, a “dedicated security device,” but it wears many hats.
As mentioned, it works with Android’s Find Hub network, as well as being compatible with Apple Find My. So in any case, you can use it to track objects like bags. It charges via USB-C and comes with a carabiner. In terms of size, it’s quite a bit larger than the Clip 5 or an AirTag, but with good reason.
One of the other purposes it serves is to act as a flashlight. An LED in design is a surprisingly bright flashlight that is housed within a compact form factor. It turns on with the touch of the button, with a slight delay before full activation so you don’t get blinded by looking at it; Ask me how I found out.
The security aspect comes after that.
Pebblebee Halo is attached to a carabiner with a magnetic top half. When you separate the base of the product from that “lid”, it immediately activates a loud siren and uses that flashlight as a strobe light. In other words, a quick and accessible deterrent to those nearby with malicious intent. The siren reaches 130 dB while the strobe reaches 150 lumens.
When the siren is activated, Halo also talks to the Pebblebee app on your phone and can send your live location to trusted contacts. There is also a silent alert option if you don’t want the siren to sound loudly, which is explained in the Pebblebee app. you do need to set that up, since you can’t even pair the Halo with the Find Hub before pairing it with the Pebblebee app.

This focus on personal security from Pebblebee first emerged last year with the update to the company’s Clip tracker, but the Halo is the first device with hardware designed specifically for this feature.
Having tested it in person, I must say that I am quite impressed with the hardware. The functionality here is intuitive and the design is well done. The magnet is strong enough that you won’t (easily) activate the siren by accident, but it’s not so strong that you can’t activate it in a panic. The security siren and flashlight actually work even if you don’t pair them. Five consecutive presses will trigger the silent alarm.

As far as price goes, the Pebblebee Halo itself is a pretty easy buy at $59.99.
It’s much more expensive than a typical item tracker, but it’s worth the extra cost for everything you get. This also includes Pebblebee’s Alert Live service for one year, which costs $24.99 per year after the first 12 months, but is completely optional. The free service level still activates the siren and can still send your location to one contact, but the paid version can send your location to five other people with live updates.
