Google Launches AI Edge Eloquent Dictation App on iOS with Offline Transcription and Filler Word Removal


Google has launched a new dictation app called Google AI Edge Eloquent on iOS. The app performs transcription locally with Gemma-based models on the device, offering an optional cloud mode that uses Gemini for additional text cleansing.

It is currently free and available in the Apple App Store. An Android version appears to be in development. The App Store listing makes direct reference to Android integration, and a “Download for Android” The button briefly appeared on the app’s website before being removed.

Features of Google AI Edge Eloquent Dictation App

AI Edge Eloquent provides real-time transcription while the user speaks. When dictation stops, filler words such as “one” and “ah” of the transcription. Users can then choose to reformat the clean text into different output styles, such as keypoints, formal, short, or long.

The app also supports importing custom vocabulary over a connection gmail account or manual entry, helping you accurately recognize names, technical terms, and domain-specific jargon. A session history feature tracks words per minute and the total number of words spoken during each session.

By default, all processing is done on the device, with no data sent externally. Switching to cloud mode directs transcription through Gemini Models to perform a more thorough cleaning, which requires an Internet connection.

When Google AI Edge Eloquent could come to Android

Google has not announced an official release date for Android. The App Store description for the iOS app mentions Android system integration features, such as the ability to set Eloquent as the default keyboard for system-wide use in any text field and a floating button to access the transcript from any app.
