Google is Expanding Fitbit’s AI FeaturesAnd if you’re interested in your cardiovascular fitness, there’s something new you can check out. The company is now highlighting its insights into VO2 Max as part of a broader public preview of its new AI-powered health coach.
The main change is the Personal Health Coach in the Fitbit app, powered by Gemini. It started as a limited preview but is now expanding to 37 countries and 32 languages, according to Google. blog post.
This global launch covers countries such as Austria, Belgium, Brazil, India, Japan, South Korea, Spain and many more in Europe, Asia and America.
With support for new languages such as Hindi, German and Japanese, users can now speak to the trainer in their own language instead of using standard prompts. Still, the highlight is the VO2 Max.
In the past, Fitbit measured cardiovascular fitness with its “Cardio Fitness Score,” but until now it hasn’t been a main feature. With this public preview, VO2 Max, which measures how well the body uses oxygen during exercise, is now an integral part of the AI training experience.
You can ask the trainer what your VO2 Max means, if it is improving, and what you can do to improve it. The app not only shows the number; explains what it means, puts it in context, and connects it to your habits.
So if your VO2 Max drops, for example, the trainer might suggest it’s due to missed workouts or insufficient recovery. If it goes up, the coach can show you what’s helping you, giving you clearer feedback instead of leaving you guessing.
