OpenAI has launched a new $100 per month Professional subscription for ChatGPTcreating an intermediate option between the existing $20 Plus and $200 plans. This new tier is aimed at users who rely on advanced AI tools for complex, recurring tasks and competes directly with Anthropic’s $100 Max plan, which has gained popularity among coding-focused users.
Updated ChatGPT subscription levels and what they include
OpenAI offers three subscription levels. The levels:
- The Plus plan costs $20 per month and is suitable for lighter use, providing access to advanced features such as Codex and in-depth research for selected projects during the week
- The Pro plan is priced at $100 per month and is designed for sustained use of advanced tools and models, with usage limits five times that of Plus and, for a limited time, Codex usage ten times that of Plus.
- The highest level, priced at $200 per month. It is designed for continuous, demanding workflows across multiple projects and offers twenty times greater usage limits than Plus.
All three plans include access to Pro models, Codex, Deep Research, imaging, memory, and file uploads.
OpenAI claims that the $100 Pro plan provides unlimited access to GPT-5 and legacy models, although standard Terms of Use, including account sharing restrictions, still apply. Codex’s tenfold increase in usage compared to Plus is described as a limited-time offer with no specified end date.
How the new $100 Pro tier fits into the AI pricing landscape
OpenAI previously did not offer a tier between $20 and $200, leaving a gap of $180. Anthropic’s offerings include a $20 plan and a $100 Max plan, along with a $200 tier. OpenAI hasn’t commented on whether the new Pro tier was created in response to Anthropic’s pricing, but the $100 price point and focus on using Codex sounds a lot like Anthropic’s competitive plan.
