‘Lee Cronin’s The Mummy’ will please fans of raw horror

Spring will have its big horror movie next week with The Mummy of Lee Cronin, and it sounds like one for psychopaths.

After its release before the weekend, reactions to the film have spread across social media. The general consensus seems to be that Cronin made a film that was both terrifying and quite twisted, and a particular delight for fans of his last film. The rise of the evil dead. If you’re not into Cronin’s brand of horror, this doesn’t sound like it’s for you, but we’ve still put together some of the posts below so you can make that decision for yourself.

The Mummy of Lee Cronin centers on a family that has just been reunited with Katie, the middle daughter who disappeared almost a decade ago. As the family adjusts to having Katie back in their lives, the father (Jack Reynor) tries to discover why she disappeared and what happened to her, while the young woman begins to act…off. Strange things begin to happen to the family and to her, and little by little they realize that something has returned to their daughter or taken over her completely.

For those open to Cronin’s brand of horror, it should be nice to hear the positive reactions, especially since the film’s marketing cycle began with rumors of fairly negative impressions from test audiences. Things haven’t stopped there: Warner Bros. has had to remind fans that this has no connection to universal trilogy from the early 2000s and as such, does not star Brendan Fraserwho will lead The Mummy 4 in 2028.

Leaving aside the confusion of name and continuity, The Mummy of Lee Cronin hits theaters this Friday, April 17. Look for full reviews before then.
