One of the biggest shakeups ever in Microsoft’s Xbox leadership occurred in early February of this year, with Phil Spencer retires after 38 years with the company and 12 serving as the head of the brand. He has been succeeded by the new CEO of Xbox asha sharmawho previously served as Product President of CoreAI. President of content and game studios matte booty He was also promoted to executive vice president and chief content officer of Microsoft Gaming.
Sharma’s story with AI The work immediately caused many in the community to fear that Xbox would be flooded with AI rest under his wing, though she promised that wouldn’t happen when she was appointedand as my colleague and Windows Central executive editor, Jez Corden wroteTheir experience in integrating useful features and creating social systems will greatly benefit Xbox.

His take on Sharma, however, I suspect many will find more interesting. Fries points out that he is new blood in the Xbox ecosystem and that he has a certain “advantage” in the sense that he can bring new ideas “and make things happen, change the world.” Notably, said something similar in Februarynoting that Matt Booty can focus on Xbox games while Sharma works on the business side.
“With Asha, I mean, she’s new, but she’s the age I was when I took over the playgroup, you know?” Said. “It’s kind of an advantage when you believe that anything is possible and you can have great ideas and be naïve enough not to know they’re impossible and make things happen, change the world. That’s why I’m very optimistic.”
Since Sharma joined the Xbox team, Microsoft has improved or added a variety of valuable featuresincluding some major customization updates and an overhaul of the achievement system. Reportedly, He also believes that Xbox Game Pass “has become too expensive for gamers.” after Last year’s huge price increase.and pursues “a better value equation” with both short- and long-term adjustments.
As Xbox’s new CEO, one of Sharma’s most important tasks will be to help ensure the successful launch of Microsoft’s next console, an ambitious device codenamed Propeller project which will function as a console-PC hybrid with the benefits and comforts of both types of systems. Fries said that the work on Helix assures him that Microsoft highly values Xbox and that he likes that as one of its original architects.
“I was very happy to hear about (Project Helix)… I think Xbox is so much bigger now than when I was there, it’s hard for me to even understand it,” he added. “But it is an important business for Microsoft, (and) it seems that (Nadella Satya), CEO of Microsoft, understands that it is important and wants to continue supporting it. That makes me happy, because I like to see that the things I worked on are still here and around.”
