The Split View Now Playing Redesign YouTube Music Has Been Working On since last year it is now being widely implemented.
At the top, you’ll notice how the “Song” and “Video” selector now uses icons, while the cover is a little larger than before.
Old
The location of the button carousel and main controls hasn’t changed, but the progress bar went from a thin line and playhead to a thicker container. The line becomes thicker when you tap and rub.
Meanwhile, YTM removed “Lyrics” and “Related.” The bottom of Now Playing is now dedicated to the Up Next queue. You can swipe anywhere on the player (including the top) to slide it up halfway.
New
This redesign features a new dual-pane layout that lets you see the cover, controls, and what’s next. Swipe up again to get the previous layout in full screen.
You’ll find Lyrics just after the thumbs up/down capsule, while Related can be opened by tapping the song title and the chevron to the right.
The Now Playing split view redesign is now rolling out widely to YouTube Music for Android (version 9.14) and iOS (9.15). This is a server-side update, where closing the queue and force stopping the app triggers the new look.
