Overwatch has enjoyed a huge comeback since leaving “2,” and its first season, packed with new heroes, was one of Blizzard’s many good moves this year. We now have more information about what to expect Overwatch Season 2briefly and sweetly titled Summit.
What time does Overwatch Season 2 start?
The summit begins on April 14 at 11am PT / 2pm ET / 7pm GMTwhich also coincides with the game launching on Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time.
New Sierra hero for main DPS
Sierra’s introduction continues the overall story of Rise of Talon and comes with a 3-week event, effectively allowing you to play through her story and unlock more story as you progress through the challenges.
It’s better than watching a short, that’s for sure. Sierra is a DPS hero who wields a rifle that spits out spiral ammo and has a personal connection to the Soldier Enhancement program (her mother was the first test subject). She also gets her own combat drone named Dorothy, so it’s kind of a two-for-one deal.

The 3-week Grand Mesa event will give you more than just story segments; You can earn rewards like voice lines, battle pass tier skips, and loot boxes, among other things.
Small but important improvements.
There have been a number of quality of life changes since the launch of the most recent season, including an update to post-match praise.
The voting system has been redesigned to show moments that are not necessarily reflected in pure end-of-match statistics and to show more personal summaries at the end of your matches.
Additionally, the Antarctica map has been adjusted to improve layout and staging areas. You can expect better flanking routes and better visibility on the battlefield.
It’s time to spend those mythical prisms
If you’ve been hoarding your Mythic Prisms and are a main character in Soldier 76, ’tis the season to spend them. Soldier: 76 gets his first Mythic skin, Volted Overdrive, which looks straight out of Cyberpunk 2077. It has four levels of customization, allowing you to toggle everything from biotech skill effects to different hairstyles.
For those who prefer a sword to a pulse rifle, there is the mythical weapon Sumi-ichimonji Genji. As you level up, the weapon becomes reactive, splashing ink across the screen as you rack up kills. It’s easily one of the slickest weapon skins they’ve released to date and looks more like a Diablo cosmetic, but I’m not complaining.
Benefit Updates and Stadium Changes
Blizzard is leaning even more into the perk system with a mini update that makes certain heroes feel much more fine-tuned.
- Soldier: 76 receives agility training, which increases his sprint speed by a whopping 60% if you hold him for more than two seconds.
- Mercy mains get a bit more utility with Double Dose, granting a second charge of Flash Heal.
- Pharah is becoming even more annoying as her Concussive Blast now deals 50 explosion damage, turning a dash tool into a finishing move.
- Ramattra gains Prolonged Barrier, a minor buff that increases the size and duration of Void Barrier by 25%.
- Reaper gains Trigger Finger, a major new perk that refreshes the cooldown of Dire Triggers when using a skill and recharging.
Meanwhile, Stadium continues to evolve with Ramattra entering the mode (with a ridiculously cool Diablo skin to boot) and a balance overhaul for Juno. Jetpack Cat fans will be happy to know that he enters the mode mid-season. Because only in a Blizzard game can cats fly.
Crossovers and blooming looks.
The LE SSERAFIM collaboration returns for its third tour from April 14 to 27. If you missed those legendary skins earlier, or if you just want to see Ashe’s dynamite with new RGB effects, now is the time.
If K-POP isn’t your thing and you’ve already gotten your boots on the incredibly cute Hello Kitty stuff, The Sakura Collection will also be launching alongside the season. It’s a softer, cherry blossom-inspired aesthetic for heroes like Hanzo, Junker Queen, and newcomer Sierra.
Overwatch is now on Switch 2… too!
Finally, for laptop users, the jump to nintendo switch 2 is great news. We’re seeing 60 FPS in both docked and handheld modes with significantly higher fidelity. It’s a far cry from the blurry but functional port of the original Switch, making it a genuine way to play competitively on the go. Rumors are also rife that Diablo 4 could be getting a Switch 2 port, so it looks like Blizzard is really making sure you can’t escape its games this year. WoW console port when?
A few words for bargain hunters
If you’re looking to fund your Battle Pass without opening your wallet, you might be thinking about heading to Microsoft Rewards. Typically, redeeming your points for Overwatch Coins is the best way to avoid the paywall, but note: Coins are currently shown as out of stock.. I’m not sure if they’ve been completely removed from the show and this is a placeholder or not, but it says “coming back soon” so watch this space.
