Fedora was the Linux distribution that got me off Windows, and one of its main strengths, in my opinion, is its stability. I’ve rarely had problems using the operating system and anything I found was easy to remedy and was fixed fairly quickly. So, as you might expect, if a new version of Fedora has some nasty bugs, the community would rather delay the release than ruin the trust people have in the operating system and ship it.
Right now, Fedora 44 is going through some nasty problems. Once planned for release on April 14, it was later delayed to April 21 after some bugs persisted. Now the release date has been pushed back for the second time to April 28, as some nasty ‘blockers’ are holding things up.

It’s the second delay after the operating system missed its mid-April date, and the root cause is what the Fedora community calls “crash bugs.” When a new version of Fedora is being prepared for release, someone may propose specific bugs in the operating system as a crashing bug. The community then votes on whether or not it qualifies as a crash bug; If it is approved, the community has to fix it before the operating system is ready for release. As long as a locker error persists, the operating system is not released.
Right now, the bug tracker blocker has four confirmed crash bugs:

Four proposed crash bugs are also being considered, including a black screen issue with the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 and slow Wi-Fi connections on specific laptops. If any of these are added to the blocker’s list of confirmed bugs, they will also need to be fixed before Fedora 44 can be released. Unfortunately, all we can do is watch and wait to see if Fedora 44 will have a third delay; We hope the community doesn’t have to resort to that.
