anthropic has introduced Claude Designa preview service that creates visual assets through conversational messages. Built on Close Job 4.7The feature is available via the paddle icon in the left navigation panel of Claude.ai for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers.
Claude Design usage is tracked separately from the standard Claude Chat and Claude Code limits. Subscribers have individual weekly allocations that fit into existing limits rather than replacing them. Business users with usage-based pricing receive a one-time credit that covers about 20 typical messages and expires July 17.
What Claude Design can create
According to Anthropic, Claude Design is intended for creating design prototypes, creating product wireframes and mockups, exploring design ideas, preparing presentations and presentations, and developing marketing materials. Users describe their needs in text and Claude Design produces an initial version.
Adjustments can be made through follow-up conversations, online comments, direct edits, or custom sliders generated by Claude during the session. Completed designs can be exported as a ZIP, PDF or PPTX file, or sent directly to Canva, HTML or Claude Code.
How Claude Design uses design systems and usage limits
Users can set up a personal design system by providing links to GitHub repositories, local code files, uploaded Figma files, font and logo folders, and text notes. Once configured, new projects automatically inherit styling information instead of starting from the default settings each time.
Shares of design software company Figma fell about 7 percent following the announcement. Anthropic has not commented on how Claude Design compares to Figma or other AI design tools like Lovable. Claude Design is currently available in a research preview. Anthropic has not provided a timeline for general release or any changes to current usage limits.
