iOS 27 Could Make It Much Easier to Change Home Screen Layout: Report

WWDC26 Just under 2 months leftwhere Apple will present its next generation of iOS, macOS, watchOS, etc. Rumors about iOS 27 so far have indicated that this year’s release will focus primarily on stability, with limited new features beyond Apple finally delivering on your AI promises.

Although iOS 27 won’t have anything major, there will still be some light customization features, and one of them will let you quickly undo and redo changes to your home screen.

Easier customization in iOS 27

According Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in this weekend’s Power On newsletteriOS 27 will add a new home screen switch that will allow users to undo and redo changes to their home screen. This option will exist in the same customization menu that is currently used to add widgets, change icon themes, and more. From the report:

In the modest improvements category, Apple is testing a Home Screen tweak in iOS 27 that could be useful for those who frequently make adjustments to the design of their icons and widgets. Right now, when you long-press the home screen, a bubble appears in the top left corner with four options: Add Widget, Customize, Edit Wallpaper, and Edit Pages. Apple is considering adding “undo” and “redo” buttons to that same menu to make it easier to revert or redo changes.

So from now on, if you want to make a change to the Home screen that you’re not sure about, Apple will let you easily undo it. Similarly, if you invest something you really would have liked, you can get it back. It’s not clear how far the undo/redo history will go, but it will certainly be useful for quickly iterating.

Apart from this new undo and redo feature, iOS 27 will add a new Liquid glass slider – allowing you to dial in exactly how you want your Liquid Glass to look, beyond today’s current clear and tinted options.

And as mentioned above, the real focus with iOS 27 will be on improved performance and stabilityprobably resulting in better battery life also.
