Samsung is expanding its “Re-Newed” program of refurbished Galaxy devices to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, but the price leaves a lot to be desired; At the moment, it’s just bad business.
Samsung’s “Re-Newed” program offers Galaxy phones that have been refurbished by Samsung directly with a new battery and necessary repairs, giving older hardware new life. Samsung has been ramping up this program lately, and this week opened sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 as “refreshed” releases.
Colors include silver, blue, and black for the Fold, but only “Mint” for the Flip.
A refurbished Galaxy Z Fold 7 costs between $1,699 and $1,879 depending on which model you choose, which is a discount of $300 to $620, again depending on the storage variant. Here’s how the “renewed” prices break down:
| Retail price | ‘Renewed’ price | |
| Galaxy Z Fold 7 (256GB) | $1,999.99 | $1,699.00 |
| Galaxy Z Fold 7 (512GB) | $2,199.99 | $1,749.00 |
| Galaxy Z Fold 7 (1TB) | $2,499.99 | $1,879.00 |
| Galaxy Z Flip 7 (256GB) | $1,099.99 | $939.00 |
| Galaxy Z Flip 7 (512GB) | $1,299.99 | $989.00 |
However, that’s all based on retail price.
Samsung is currently offering its latest foldable devices at a deep discount, with the Basic Galaxy Z Fold 7 (256GB) sells for $1,599 – $100 less for a new model compared to the reconditioned one.
The same goes for the “renewed” Galaxy Z Flip 7. The refurbished one starts at $939, while a The new model is on sale right now for $899..
It’s always been true that it’s not hard to get a better deal on Samsung’s next-gen Galaxy releases than what the “Re-Newed” program is offering, but it’s more than fun to see that Samsung is the one offering a better deal.
