Philips Hue lights enhanced with SpatialAware immersive feature, now available

In January, we learned about an upcoming Philips Hue mode called SpatialAware. Starting today, the “more natural and immersive” smart lighting function arrives. Philips Hue video doorbell owners also have two new features ready for action.

SpatialAware requires remastering of Hue lighting scenes

The new SpatialAware mode is now available as part of today’s update to the Philips Hue app for iPhone and iPad. SpatialAware allows you to “scan your room and let the app intelligently distribute scenes from the scene gallery throughout your room for a more natural, immersive feel,” according to the app’s latest release notes.

Lighting scenes need to be updated to support immersive lighting mode. For starters, half of the available lighting scenes have been remastered for SpatialAware.

The new Philips Hue Bridge Pro is required to power SpatialAware lighting scenes. According to the company, scanning a room typically takes less than 10 minutes.

The feature works on phones with and without LiDAR. You can learn more about SpatialAware here.

The new features of the Hue video doorbell arrive

The latest app update also includes two Hue ecosystem features related to Hue Video Doorbells:

  • Now, when someone rings your Hue video doorbell, you can receive a simulated video call, answer it, and check who’s at your door.
  • You can now select pre-recorded responses to play automatically when you can’t open the door.

Sounds like a great way to see hue It’s at the door. Sorry no one asked tone-mor.

Anyway you can download the The latest Philips Hue app for iPhone and iPad to unlock new SpatialAware and Hue video doorbell features.

The Philips Hue Bridge Pro is sold as a separate update or like part of a package with Philips Hue smart lights.
