This is what you can expect widow’s bayaccording to Apple TV:

“Widow’s Bay” is a picturesque island town 40 miles off the coast of New England. But something is hiding beneath the surface. Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) is desperate to revive his struggling community. There’s no Wi-Fi, cell reception is spotty, and you have to deal with superstitious locals who believe your island is cursed. He wants these people to respect him. They don’t. They think he is soft and cowardly. And it is. But Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination. Miraculously he succeeds: the tourists finally arrive. Unfortunately, the locals were right. After decades of calm, old stories that seemed too ridiculous to be true begin to happen again. “Widow’s Bay” combines genuine horror with character-driven comedy.

A few days ago, the first reviews for Widow’s Bay were released, with most critics praising its genre-bending mix of tones and styles. RogerEbert.com called Widow’s Bay “truly unlike anything else on television,” while Decider called it “a disturbingly good horror comedy.”
