Motorola finally unveiled its latest Razr line today, but calling Moto’s trio of clamshells a improvement It wouldn’t be entirely accurate. While the Razr, Razr+, and Razr Ultra 2026 contain minor changes compared to their direct predecessors, it’s not enough to justify their more expensive prices, especially considering Some of those changes aren’t actually for the better.. If you act quickly, you might be able to get last year’s Razr Ultra for half price, which will bring the price down below what Moto wants for its latest base model.
This isn’t your run-of-the-mill “get last year’s hardware for less” kind of deal. Because all three of Moto’s foldables are quite slim in the actual generational upgrades, you’re effectively getting a nearly identical device for about half its original MSRP of $1,300 (a price that, remember, will increase to $1,500 with this new version). You’ll have to make a couple of sacrifices, specifically around the Razr Ultra’s battery capacity, but considering the savings shown here, it’s ultimately worth one or two relatively minor tradeoffs.
However, before we detail what you’re sacrificing, let’s break down what these current offerings actually are. Motorola’s web store offers the best deal: a 1TB Razr Ultra in any color except Cabaret for just $800. further a free pair of Moto Buds+ from last year. That’s before you factor in additional discounts with trade-ins, and Motorola seems to be giving most devices an extra $65 value right now, and nearly cutting the price of the original 1TB Razr Ultra in half. It’s also now the only way to get a Razr with a full terabyte of storage, as Motorola is discontinuing that offering with this year’s launch.
It’s an incredible deal on its own, but if you prefer to shop at Amazon or Best Buy, you have a couple of options that might fit your situation a little better. Right now, Amazon’s discount is possibly the worst of the bunch, offering the Razr Ultra in Rio Red or Cabaret for $800. However, this is fair the 512 GB model and does not include a free pair of headphones. However, if you have Amazon gift cards or prefer the store’s easy return policy, it’s still a great deal.
Best Buy actually goes a step further and offers last year’s Razr Ultra in any color except Cabaret for just $700, or $600 if you’re willing to activate the phone through Verizon or AT&T at checkout. Even without activation, that’s $600 less than its MSRP and a whopping $800 less than the price of the phone it replaces, despite sacrificing virtually nothing for your overall experience.
Actually, now is the perfect time to talk about sacrifices. The Razr Ultra model that will replace this one in a few weeks features a larger 5,000 mAh battery (up from 4,700 mAh), an improved front glass cover, and a minor update to its main camera that brings LOFIC technology to that 50 MP main sensor for improved dynamic range. Aside from a couple of additional (and minor) software tweaks, that’s the full list of changes. All of this is nice to have, sure, but no one will agree that it’s worth paying $700 to $900 more for these tweaks and a handful of new colors and finishes.
Even the argument that might normally prevail here (upgrades) doesn’t exactly apply to Motorola hardware. Both the 2025 and 2026 Razr Ultras will receive three major operating system updates: last year’s model will receive four years of bimonthly security patches and its successor five. That puts this discounted model on track for two more OS updates (via Android 18) with security support through 2029. While the 2026 variant will have Android 19 and support through 2031, Motorola’s reputation for timely updates is so bad that it’s still not enough to justify the wait for the new model.
I don’t know how long this discount will last; Frankly, I’m surprised it’s not over with today’s announcement. If you are interested in purchasing a Razr Ultra, I recommend taking advantage of these offers. No matter which retailer you choose, it’s a great price for a great phone.
