Forget about smartwatch games downloaded from Apple or Google Play Store. What if you smart watch Does it come with an all-time classic pre-installed? You might like the latest My Play Watch, which comes with a custom version of Mega Man 2, designed for the small screen.
The strange device is bright blue, like the titular hero, and comes with two different shades of Mega Man-themed straps. The Squircle watch face lets you play the iconic 1988 arcade game, but it’s not the exact version you remember.
My Play Watch says the game experience is “authentic” and uses “original sprites, stages, bosses and music… redesigned for fast, one-touch gameplay.” There are two game modes with a character running automatically and you tapping the screen to shoot or perform jumps.
The modes are Classic, which allows you to select a stage you want to play for a progression-based experience, while Arcade allows you to go through selected stages with increasing speed and difficulty.
However, it’s not just for playing. You can also change the watch face and there are Mega Man themed options such as original artwork and animations.

There’s activity tracking for steps, heart rate, and calories, and the user interface features Mega Man designs on every feature. It is not known if it offers more extensive training beyond the basic ones.
You won’t get a full smartwatch experience here, as the manufacturer says it allows for a “focused, distraction-free experience centered around gaming and simplicity.” There are no further connectivity options, so don’t expect to connect to your smartphone or Wi-Fi.

My Play Watch offers other versions themed around nerd iconography, including Tetris, Space Invaders, and even emoji. There is also an Atari 2600 version with four built-in games, including Centipede, Missile Command, Pong, and Super Breakout.
