Microsoft highlights fan voting site as Xbox VP asks gamers to choose which classic games should return via backwards compatibility
Backwards compatibility is still a hot topic, whether it’s worth the effort or not. Some argue that it is not used as much as people think, and to those people I tell them to shut up.
Xbox remains one of the most consumer-friendly platforms, respecting a library that dates back to 2001. That level of commitment to older titles is something you simply can’t find anywhere else.
At the beginning of this yearXbox confirmed that its backwards compatibility efforts would return. Next Generation Vice President Jason Ronald stated: “We’re committed to keeping games from four generations of Xbox playable for years to come. As part of our 25th anniversary later this year, we’ll be rolling out new ways to play some of the most iconic games from our past..”

However, it wasn’t clear what that really meant, or at least it was to me. Did you point out that more games would be added, support for Propeller projectOr even broader compatibility on PC?
Now, it looks like Jason Ronald may have given a clearer indication that more titles are on the way, although I’d still take it with a grain of salt; You never really know.
“There is a community-driven site where you can make your requests known. @Flaassing“
In that post, Ronald also links to XboxGamePreservation.com, a community-run website where fans can vote on which games they would like to see return through Xbox’s backwards compatibility efforts.
We’ve covered the website before.but seeing someone on Xbox actively point at people is enough to make people, myself included, get a little excited.
What do you think? Does this suggest that Xbox is actively looking at what fans want to add through backwards compatibility, or does it not mean much?
