Right now, Google’s subscription AI offerings have a pretty big gap between AI Pro and Ultra AI levels. But evidence suggests that Google could be quietly developing a new option between the two: AI Ultra Lite.
We can see the name of the next Google AI subscription tier in a text string within the macOS version of the Gemini app, along with its apparent codename, “Neon.”

Since AI Pro costs $20 a month and the original AI Ultra costs $250, the price of AI Ultra Lite will likely fall somewhere between those two. Whatever its final cost, that could mean it could provide everything the AI Pro offers and many of the features the original AI Ultra offers, but perhaps with some slightly lower usage limits. For example, it may offer access to the Deep Think reasoning mode but not genius project.

In addition to the new subscription level, 9to5Google Text strings were discovered that suggest Google is working on a new page dedicated to tracking the explicit limits of AI usage on Gemini and how close it is to reaching that quota at any given time:

OVERAGE_CREDITSThose strings could imply that the page will take users to a dashboard that takes into account separate weekly and five-hour usage limits, as well as excess credits that go beyond what the subscription plan allows, as we see with peers like Anthropic.
Details on AI Ultra Lite are pretty scarce at the moment, but we may see what it will look like (and find out if it keeps this “Ultra Lite” name) in Google I/O 2026which is just under two weeks away.
