In June 2025, Google surprisingly liberated a major update for Snapseed after a long period of inactivity. After confirming in the start of this year Although the iOS exclusivity was about to end, Snapseed 4.0 is now rolling out to Android.
Starting today, the Play Store Listing It has been updated for the new app, which is version 4.0. Since last year, iOS has been at version 3.0, so both platforms will receive an updated interface with this version. Updated Google Play resources provide some insight into the interface.
This includes how Google has built in the Snapseed camera to “capture using custom styles or movie styles.” This includes “real-time effects that can be edited or reset later.”
The Android redesign starts with a new grid on the home page that shows the photos you’ve edited with Snapseed. To start editing, tap “Add Photo” at the bottom to open the system file chooser.
The editor is organized into three lower tabs: Appearances, Tools, and Export. That middle tab is grouped by Refine, Correct, Style, and All.
As before, drag left or right to make value adjustments. Depending on the tool, you can still swipe up or down to access different options. In the top right corner, you can quickly switch between dark and light themes and enable the histogram.
Meanwhile, the Snapseed camera is accessed from a FAB (floating action button) on the home page. This scope is quite skeuomorphic with a “Pro” mode that allows you to control ISO, shutter speed and focus.
In addition to using your custom saved looks, Snapseed Camera offers real-time “film emulation” in the following styles:

Other settings allow you to set a different color theme for the viewer: Editor, Dusk, Negative, Steel, Haze, and Depth.

Snapseed 4.0 on iOS fully availableand Google explained that “the editing process (now) is more fluid and intuitive.” Specifically:
