Muneeb didn’t seem to consider his actions a big deal. “Hey, they can recover from yesterday,” he said, referring to the daily database backups.
“Yes, they could,” Sohaib agreed.
Muneeb noted that an employee they knew “would have work to do” when the destruction was revealed.
Sohaib gave Muneeb more suggestions.
“Delete your file system too?” said.
“A smart idea,” Muneeb said.
Then Sohaib wondered if they had been too hasty. Maybe, he said, “you should have had a murder script. For example, blackmailing them for some money would have been…”
“No, don’t do that, that’s proof of guilt, man,” Muneeb said.
“No, but the thing is, you always have your opinion,” Sohaib complained, and the two argued over whether they could try to blackmail his company’s clients instead.
As the data destruction continued, Sohaib said, “They will probably attack this place.”
“I will clean this shit up,” Muneeb said.
After wiping the databases and event logs, the brothers reinstalled the operating systems on their corporate laptops with the help of an anonymous accomplice.

Sohaib was right; The feds raided them. It only took three weeks.
On March 12, 2025, a search warrant was executed at Sohaib’s home in Alexandria. Agents seized a large amount of technological equipment, but also found seven firearms and 370 .30 caliber bullets. Considering his previous crimes, Sohaib should have had none of this.
The brothers remained at large for another nine months as the investigation progressed, but were eventually both arrested on December 3 and charged with a series of crimes (You can read the accusation here.).
