Following our report last month, Google is starting to roll out its gradient icon redesign for Workspace apps.
Update 05/22: Starting Friday, Android users should see new icons for Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides widely. Updates for other Workspace apps are still being rolled out. There is greater availability on iOS, while it is fully implemented on the web.

Original 5/18: The first appearance of this major visual revamp is in the web app launcher available on the vast majority of Google websites in the top right corner and on Chrome’s New Tab page.
We see the new icons for Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Chat, Meet, Vids, Forms, Keep, Voice and Tasks.

Meanwhile, these icons appear in the top left corner of some Google apps. So far, we have noticed them in Keep Google and home pages Documents, Leaves, Slides, Videos, Formsand Sitesalthough the favicons remain unchanged. The actual publisher logos have not been updated yet.
With this revamp, Google addresses criticism of its previous icon set. Everything is more different in terms of color and shape. The previous mandate to include all four company colors on icons is clearly gone for most apps, with Gmail the only exception.
The workspace page container has been removed in most apps to allow larger, more unique icons. For a complete icon comparison, be sure to read our original report.
Update: Gradient icons are now rolling out to iOS and Android.
