Amid leaks and rumors about “Pixel Glow” on the Pixel 11, many point to a specific shot at Google I/O as the first “official” look at the feature. That’s almost certainly not true at all, but it did remind me of a fun leak nod at a previous Google event.
During the Gemini Omni section of the Google I/O 2026 Keynote, a specific shot is drawing attention as it aligns with rumors of “Pixel Glow” in the upcoming Pixel 11 series, something 9to5Google reported for the first time about. The shot shows a Pixel phone with an illuminated strip around the camera bar, similar to what we thought of as “Pixel Glow.” could It seems in the first rumors.
In the time since the presentation, the idea that this is an “official appearance” or an “accidental mockery” or any other combination of buzzwords that look good in a headline or a “verified” Twitter/X account.
It probably isn’t.
For one thing, the entire segment we’re looking at here is created with AI. The illuminated camera bar fits very well with the disco scene that Omni created.
Of course, that being said, it looks pretty on the nose. Also, being the last shot of the sequence, that gives it even more attention. That doesn’t mean it’s an accidental leak or an “official appearance,” but it could be a fun nod to leaks.

That’s something that Google absolutely He does it from time to time.
In addition to simply giving in to the leaks of recent years and showing the Pixels full weeks or even months before their actual announcement, Google has been making small jokes and winks to leaks and rumors about its products for years.
When I saw this moment, the first thing that came to mind for me personally was the whole “Pixel Ultra reunion” joke at the Pixel 2 launch event in 2018. Before the launch of the Pixel 2, there were rumors of months about a “Pixel Ultra”, something that continued a year later, around the debut of the Pixel 3. Google, during his presentation of the Pixel 2put a very prominent “Pixel Ultra meeting” in the At a Glance widget as a very obvious nod to the whole online conversation.

Could “Pixel Glow” on the Pixel 11 look like this AI I/O video? Maybe! Personally I would love that design. But it’s equally possible that we’ll have some LEDs inside the camera bar, which would be much less exciting.
For now, all we really know about “Pixel Glow” is that it’s a thing.
