Chrome on Android tablets, foldable devices that implement the bookmarks bar

Google is updating Chrome on Android tablets and foldable devices to make it more like the desktop version by adding the bookmarks bar.

Just like on the desktop, the bookmarks bar appears below and takes up the full width of the Omnibox. Favicons are accompanied by site names, and folders also appear and open online.

A right-facing chevron at the end lets you see bookmarks that don’t fit, like folders, while “All Bookmarks” opens the existing full-screen navigation interface. Long pressing a bookmark will display the full URL.

Overall, this makes Chrome on large-screen Android devices more like the desktop version.

To enable it, go to Settings > Appearance > Show bookmarks bar. The interface is “hidden in narrow screens,” like phones. This appears with version 146 of Chrome for Android. If the Appearance menu is not yet available on your device, force stop Chrome from the App Info menu.
