Nicolas Cage, one of the most eccentric movie stars in Hollywood, is heading to television to play a different version of Spider-Man in Spider-Black. All eight episodes of the superhero show will premiere on Prime Video on Wednesday, May 27 at 12 a.m. PT/3 a.m. ET in the US.
The series first premiered nationally during a special presentation on MGM+’s linear streaming channel on May 25. If you missed that debut, you won’t have to wait much longer for the show to appear on Prime Video.

In addition to cage, Spider-Black It stars Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, Karen Rodriguez as Janet, Abraham Popoola as Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone, Jack Huston as Flint Marco/Sandman and Brendan Gleeson as the ruthless crime boss known as Silvermane.
The list of guest stars includes Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Andrew Robinson and Kai Caster.
Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot are co-showrunners and executive producers. The duo developed the show with the trio of Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal, the award-winning team behind the Spider-Verse franchise.
To really capture the spirit of the 1930s, there will be a black and white version of Spider-Black. Prime Video users can also watch the episodes in “True-Hue” in full color.
Although Spider-Black is based on a Marvel property, it certainly feels like a show that all audiences can enjoy, including those viewers who aren’t up to speed with the MCU. Early reviews have been predominantly positive, with the show in 91% in rotten tomatoes. Meanwhile, ScreenRant called it “Cage at his best.” on track for a 7 out of 10 review.
