New Gemini Live voices implemented and widget adds Neural Expressive


After last week Expressive neural redesignThe Gemini app is rolling out new voices for the main chat experience and Gemini Live.

Go to Gemini Settings > Gemini Voice for a redesigned voice selector. Instead of a carousel, you get a list. “Flare” and “Glow” are two new additions that replace Nova (quiet • mid-range vocals) and Lyra (bright • higher vocals).

  • Ursa: Committed • Mid-range voice
  • Vega: Bright • Higher voice
  • Pegasus: Committed • Deeper voice
  • Dipper: Committed • Deeper voice
  • Eclipse: Energetic • Mid-range voice
  • Capella: British accent • Higher voice
  • Orbit: Energetic • Deeper voice
  • Orion: Bright • Deeper voice

Gemini has removed voice descriptions with this redesign.

Glow

Meanwhile, the widget layouts are unchanged from before, but all the icons have been updated. Neural Expressive uses fine outlines for microphone, camera, gallery, file, video, screen sharing and Live. This will be implemented via a server-side update with the latest version (1.0.913571982) of Gemini. “app”/home screen shortcut.

On a related note, Google App 17.26 this week updates the Drive icon in the “more” menu to the latest style.
