Colin Farrell plays Los Angeles-based detective John Sugar in a series that gives off old Hollywood film noir vibes.

The show surprised many viewers with a big sci-fi twist in its first season that is expected to be further explored in season 2.

Otherwise, Sugar follows many of the expected beats of a classic private detective story, anchored by solid performances and an intriguing mystery.

Apple today unveiled the trailer for the new season, which is available below, followed by the plot summary:

“Sugar” is a contemporary and unique version of one of the most popular and important genres in literary, film and television history: the private detective story. The second season ushers in the return of iconic Los Angeles private detective and film connoisseur John Sugar, played by Farrell, who takes on a new missing persons case, searching for the older brother of a promising local boxer, while continuing the search for his beloved missing sister. As the investigation expands into a citywide conspiracy with sinister intentions, Sugar must rely on himself to answer the question: How far will he go to do the right thing?
