Google appears to be rolling out wallpaper-based themes for Gemini after previously testing the feature internally.
At the beginning of this year, Android Authority reported which Google was experimenting with material you Color themes for Gemini within the Google app. At the time, the feature was hidden and had to be enabled manually. Now, users are starting to spot the redesign live in beta versions of the Google app, and we also confirmed the change on our own Pixel 9 with version 17.27.33.sa.arm64 beta.

The update brings Gemini more in line with Android’s Material You design language by dynamically adapting parts of the interface to match the colors of your wallpaper. So far, Gemini has retained Google’s old white and blue visual style rather than fully adopting the wallpaper-based theme.
Currently, the changes appear to be limited to Gemini’s floating overlay UI. When Gemini is invoked through the home screen or another app, the floating bar now takes on a subtle tint based on the system theme, while the Gemini Live button appears in a darker accent color derived from the wallpaper palette.
As we noted in our previous teardown, Gemini’s main interface still doesn’t seem to fully support dynamic theming. This suggests that Google could be taking a gradual rollout approach, starting with smaller interface elements before expanding the redesign more broadly.
