ASUS’ Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand turns 20 this year, and to celebrate, the company has released a 20th anniversary edition of its PLEASE Harp II Extreme gaming mouse at Computex.
I was lucky enough to get the new one. Edition 20 mouse a couple of weeks before the announcement, so I had plenty of time to test it in many real-world situations. If you like the idea of a gold-plated mouse, read on to see if it’s worth buying or not.

How much does the ASUS ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 cost?
The new ASUS ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 mouse makes its debut at $259.99. It is available for pre-order at both Best Buy and Neweggand is expected to fully launch on July 19.
After launch, it will also be available on Amazon and Micro Center.
Considering the regular ROG Harpe II Ace, on which this Special Edition 20 is based, costs about $170you are looking at approximately a $90 cost difference.
What’s in the box?
In addition to the ASUS ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 mouse, the special display case has an ROG SpeedNova 8K receiver and extender, an ROG paracord, adhesive tape, additional mouse slides, stickers, a cleaning cloth, and documentation.
What I love about the ASUS ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20
The new ASUS ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 is based on the Harp II Needles which will be released in late 2025. And like its sister keyboard ROG Azoth Extreme Edition 20, it’s been given a makeover with gold accents, upgraded internals, and special anniversary branding.
Impeccable design that is comfortable to hold.
The Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 has been sitting on my desk for gaming and work for a couple of weeks now, and it’s just as comfortable to hold at the start of the day as it is at the end.
Its side walls are slightly tapered to fit my fingers and it has an ideal shape that rests firmly under my palm. It’s the perfect size for me, although I can see it being maybe too big for those with smaller hands.

I was worried about how slippery the transparent outer shell might be when gaming, but ASUS has that problem covered with included grip stickers that you can add if necessary.
The mouse case primarily has a semi-transparent black finish to help show off the internals. The exterior is a little busy, with all the extra ROG branding in honor of the anniversary, but that’s largely the point.
A gold-plated interior… with RGB lighting
The biggest aesthetic upgrade you get here comes in the form of a 24K real gold-plated metal internal frame.
The layered design helps give some depth to the mouse’s interior beneath the transparent shell and is finished off with a ROG 20th Anniversary RGB logo right in the center of the main internal plate. This logo connects to other RGBs via Aura Sync.
Despite the new design, the mouse only weighs 82 grams. It’s one of the lightest mice I’ve ever used, and while I’m used to it, it would be nice to have adjustable weights like other high-end mice.
Scroll, click and swipe
The mouse’s black finish is offset nicely by a gold-colored scroll wheel and metal side buttons. I had no problems with any of the three entries; The side buttons are perfectly placed for easy thumb control and the scroll wheel is smooth but tactile.
ASUS uses its ROG optical micro switches under the main mouse buttons, making the mouse feel incredibly responsive. I also noticed while playing FPS games that it seriously reduces the likelihood of double-clicking, which is most felt when shooting with a rifle set to full auto.

These switches are also very durable, with ASUS claiming that it takes 100 million clicks before they wear out. Not bad.
Turning the mouse displays stylized slides on the front and back of the mouse. They’re made from Gorilla Glass for durability (nothing worse than the slides wearing out before the mouse is finished), but they also make the mouse super smooth.
This is where you will also find DPI and pairing buttons, as well as a switch for 2.4GHz (via SpeedNova 8K dongle), bluetootheither cabling connectivity. There is no key storage on the mouse; instead, ASUS recommends using the (bulky) plastic case when in transit.
The high-performance sensor you want for competitive gaming
I’m getting too old to have a real chance at competitive gaming, but I can say that the ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 made me play the best I could.
ASUS has its main ROG AimPoint Pro 65K sensor on board, with a 65,000 dpiAdjustable takeoff distance (LOD) from 0.7mm to 1.7mmmaximum acceleration of 70 g and a maximum speed of 800 inches per second (IPS).
The ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 made me play the best I could.
The mouse also allows me to adjust its polling rate from 1,000Hz all the way up 8,000Hzwhich at the top provides only 0.2ms latency even when used wirelessly.
I didn’t really need it for my purposes, but there is a zone mode available for competitive players. Quickly lock your mouse to the top setting so you can jump into a game after work without too many adjustments.
Battery life is excellent.
ASUS uses something called dynamic wireless transmission power to increase battery life and claims the mouse can run 195 hours with a voting rate of 1K. I haven’t reached that limit yet, but I also haven’t had to charge the mouse in the two weeks I’ve had it.
If you increase it to an 8K polling rate, the battery life drops to about 37 hours. It’s still a respectable number that won’t have you searching for a cable before every gaming session.
What I don’t like about the ASUS ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20
ASUS really did a great job revamping its flagship mouse for ROG’s 20th anniversary, and there are just a couple of details I’d like to mention.
One is the slippery feel of the shell. Yes, ASUS includes grip tape, but adding it to the mouse interferes with the overall sleek look.
Another drawback is the lack of a USB compartment built into the mouse. I don’t want to carry a bulky plastic case in a bag, and I don’t want to just throw a dongle loose either.
Finally, I cannot fail to mention the price. I know this mouse is for ROG fans who want to help celebrate 20 years of gaming service and I understand that its performance is superior to the ROG Harpe II Ace on which it is based.
Still, asking $259.99 for a mouse it’s a little pricey, especially if you’re already spending $600 on a matching keyboard.

If you’re a ROG fan (or just love the idea of a gaming mouse with a little extra flash), I can promise you that you’re getting a great device. Sure, it has some small drawbacks, but overall, it’s a gaming mouse that has pretty much every high-performance feature I can think of.
It’s comfortable to hold (although a little slippery without grip stickers), the buttons respond as you’d expect and feel nice and snappy, and it has the right sensor and polling rate to keep up with even the fastest reactions.
