Someone made a fully functional Catan clone that runs entirely on your terminal

Sometimes you want to play Settlers of Catan without having to play against other people. You’re just not in the mood to be that person who has to choose where the Thief goes while the other players shoot you dirty looks if you even think about placing it on their resource, no matter how good the play. Fortunately, for those of us who give in easily, you can now play a Settlers of Catan clone on your Linux terminal, because free software developers won’t stop until you can do everything imaginable on a command line.

El Poblador brings strategic gameplay to a text-based format

If you’ve never heard of Catan before, it’s a classic board game where you have to venture onto an island, exploit the land’s resources, and build roads while blocking your opponents from doing the same. You can also exchange resources with other people if they like the game.

El Poblador brings that same game to the Linux terminal and you can download it as release version or from the fountain. you will have to grab Go for the game to run and once installed you can type “go run main.go new (player4)” to add people. There don’t appear to be any bot players, nor is there the option to play online, but the developer says this latest weak spot is being worked on, so watch your space.
