Apple announced new AI-powered features for Safari at WWDC 2026, using Apple Intelligence to improve tab management, password security, browser personalization, and page monitoring.
Apple emphasizes that these features are designed with privacy in mind and do not share browsing data with Apple or third parties.
Automatic password fixes and AI tab organization in Safari
Safari and the Passwords app can now automatically fix compromised or weak passwords with just one tap. With Apple Intelligence, the system visits the appropriate website, logs in, and updates the account with a secure password without any manual effort on the user’s part.
Apple describes this feature as a password manager that acts “actively on behalf of the user.” This builds on Safari’s existing ability to identify weak and compromised passwords, with the new ability to automatically troubleshoot issues in addition to existing alerts.
Safari can now automatically group open tabs into relevant topics based on their content. For example, tabs related to planning a trip would be grouped into a single trip topic.
As new tabs are opened during a session, Safari continues to add them to existing groups or create new ones. Users do not need to categorize tabs manually.
Custom Safari extensions from a description and new page change notifications
A new feature called Describe an Extension allows users to create custom Safari extensions by simply describing what they would like in plain language. Safari then generates the extension and adds it to the toolbar.
Apple’s example includes creating a button that saves and rates the recipes the user has visited. This feature is aimed at users who want to have more control over their browser without having to write any code.
The Notify Me feature allows users to ask Safari to monitor a specific web page for changes, such as product restocks or price drops. Users can specify what they’re looking for, and Safari will send a notification when it detects a matching change on that page.
This feature provides functionality similar to third-party price tracking tools or RSS-style update monitoring, but works directly within Safari.
Availability
Apple introduced new Safari features as part of its broader Apple Intelligence updates during WWDC 2026. These features are scheduled to launch this fall alongside iOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate.
Siri AI and some Apple Intelligence capabilities will also launch in beta for English-language users later this year. Availability for EU users on iOS and iPad may differ from Mac at launch.
