Following the recent news that jeff daniels (The newsroom) will join the next season of The Morning Show, Deadline information that jesse williams (Grey’s Anatomy) will also be added to the program schedule. Here are the details.
Jesse Williams joins the cast of The Morning Show
As Deadline reported:
The fifth season of Apple TV’s multi-award-winning The Morning Show adds Jesse Williams. The actor will play Vernon, UBN’s new news chief, known as a brash agitator with a talent for engaging and retaining an audience.
Williams, alongside Daniels, will join an award-winning cast that includes Reese Witherspoon (Walk the line), Jennifer Aniston (horrible bosses), Nicole Béharie (Love, Brooklyn), Nestor Carbonell (Lost), Billy Crudup (Almost Famous), Mark Duplass (blue jay), Jon Hamm (baby driver), and Karen Pittman (Custody).
Crudup, in fact, beat Apple TV to its first emmy award in 2020, when he took home the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, a feat he repeated in 2024.
To date, The Morning Show has received two other Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling and Outstanding Contemporary Makeup (Non-Prosthetics), both in 2024. In total, the show has received nearly 30 Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
The morning program It concluded its fourth season last November, and Apple has yet to confirm a return date for Season 5. When recently asked by The Hollywood Reporter if there was a change to the season premiering in 2026, showrunner Charlotte Stoudt said:
I think so. I haven’t talked to Apple about any release dates, but between the third and fourth seasons there was a writers’ strike, so it was a pretty long delay. So without that this year, maybe we’ll move a little faster. That’s when I knock on wood!
