welcome to Featured Standalone App. This is a weekly 9to5Mac series where we showcase the latest apps from the world of standalone apps. If you are a developer and want your app to appear, get in contact.
Many people want to spend less time on their iPhones, whether for productivity, socializing more, or anything else. Screen time tools come in handy here, giving users an idea of how much time they spend on their iPhones. However, for many people they end up being too lenient to be effective.
With ‘oh my hours‘: The app flips the script and instead tells you how many hours you’ve wasted on an unwanted app, instead of just telling you that you’ve reached your screen time limit.
Highlights
The idea is quite simple. You install the app, give it access to your screen time data, and then tell it which apps you don’t want to use. It then gives you a 24-hour grid, where each hour will be populated with whether you were distracted or not. Such a grid can be added to your home screen or lock screen with a widget.
If you open a distracting app, the time block will fill up, which means you were distracted. You can make the application aggressive, completing the block after just one second, or give yourself a little more slack. However, in general, the concept is that if you open an app, you could have wasted an hour.
By changing the primary metric from “how long should I allow myself to use this app” to “how long can I avoid this app,” the mental model completely changes, making it much easier to do a digital detox. Furthermore, it depends entirely on self-responsibility. You won’t see the normal Screen Time popup where you can bypass a crash.
Then, if you’ve lost several hours (2 by default), the app counts your day as lost.

For the main version, oh my hours is available for free in the app store for iPhone and iPad models with iOS 26.2 and later. If you want the full experience, including additional widget options, hand-drawn icons for the grid, and the ability to customize your time/day limits, you can purchase the full version for $9.99 annually or $19.99 for life.
All in all, I’d say this is a pretty nifty concept that’s worth checking out if you care about managing your screen time but haven’t found any of the existing tools to resonate with you.
